The Thomas Ruck Trip Postponed
Ian's brother Thomas was supposed to have visited us during this time. Ian would have begun the long drive to Connecticut on the night of Thursday, August 19th, staying over night in Pittsburgh with my parents. He'd have brought Thomas back to Ann Arbor on Sunday the 22nd. I had decided to piggyback on this trip to spend the weekend in Pittsburgh. Since everyone would be at work on Friday, I'd decided to visit Homewood, a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, that day (more on that later).
Then Thomas got into a wreck in which he cracked a vertebrae. We were very relieved that Thomas had not been more seriously hurt. However, it was now questionable whether he'd be able to travel at the time of the planned trip. Despite the doctor's go-ahead for Thomas to travel, we decided to postpone the trip until Thomas would be feeling better. But I still wanted to go to Pittsburgh, so that trip was on.
